Sassy Sunday: Dress for Success

🍯🐝Hi Honey Bees!

Philanthropy and fashion are two of my passions. I discovered an organization that blends the two together.

Yesterday, I volunteered at Dress for Success location in Phoenix, Arizona in the professional boutique area. I had the opportunity to style two ladies for their new jobs. Seeing how the clothes elevated their posture and mindset was very rewarding.

The non-profit organization provides women with suiting, leadership, employment retention, and job training. These services give women the tools they need to succeed in the workforce.

Confidence is not always an innate trait, rather a muscle that requires training. Having a fitted suit and tailored clothes can exude confidence without words.

Our clothing tells a story. Clothing is armor.

It’s a tool to express our personalities. When you look good if often leads to feeling good.

When make time on our appearance, it’s a form of self-care that prepares us mentally for our day.

There are seven ways you too can get involved with this amazing organization:

  1. Donate Clothes, Jewelry, Shoes, Handbags, Accessories: Gently-used clothing, must be dry-cleaned & on hangars prior to donating (hangars are available on-site)
  2. Monetary Donations.
  3. Volunteer your time.
  4. Events.
  5. Host a Donation Drive
  6. Become a Corporate Partner
  7. Be a Referral Agency – Partner with Dress for Success if your organization offers job training or employment services.

Fashion with a purpose. Grateful that this resource is provided in Phoenix to empower women to look and feel their BEST!

B is for Brooklyn

🍯🐝 Hi Honey Bees!

Walking to the Brooklyn Bridge, was by pure accident. I slept in on my second day of New York Fashion Week (NYFW).

I left my hotel to grab a coffee and something to eat. As I was walking towards Lafayette street, I found a Starbucks and ordered a venti double dirty chai tea latte with soy or oat milk, (I switch it up), bottled water, and their fruit and cheese snack tray.

After I had my goodies, I saw a lady wearing a bright pink fuzzy coat. My gut instinct was following the fashion. She looked like she was headed somewhere fancy and I was right! 💗

There was flock of celebrities, models, and influencers getting their pictures taken outside of Surrogates Court building before the PatBo show for NYFW.

I kept walking until I found a bench to sip my chai tea and eat my food. The bench was the perfect place to take in the scenery and enjoy my treats.

I noticed a herd of people walking up the Brooklyn Bridge. After I ate, I joined the herd of humans on the bridge.

I am so glad I packed my New Balance tennis shoes. No way I would have survived all the walking I did that day.

Ask anyone, I love me a good fashion show, but stumbling upon the Brooklyn bridge was definitely an unexpected and enjoyable adventure.

P.S. I saw Nicole Hilton right before she attended this event. She was wearing the prettiest ombré blue dress which complemented her gorgeous blue eyes.

Sassy Sunday: NYFW Winter Whites

🍯🐝Hi Honey Bees! Happy Sassy Sunday!

I was in the big apple last weekend for New York Fashion Week #NYFW. Even though I flew out solo, I ran into a few other Phoenix fashionistas during my stay, which was a real treat.

I captured a ton of footage during my three day, two night venture. The vlog will be posted on my YouTube.com/SassyCurlsTV. Turn on those notifications so won’t miss a beat.

This was my first time on the East coast. This cold concrete jungle, does have some charm. I could have people watched for days. From the ladies to the gents, fashion was everywhere!

This desert dweller can’t wait to go back to enjoy all that New York has to offer.

One thing I am very proud of myself is I didn’t buy any new clothes for this trip. I used what I owned and in some cases have never worn. I went for an experience, not things.

Met the most charming study abroad students while waiting in line at one of the shows. More on those handsome gents later. 😉

I stayed at the the cutest hotel, Walker Hotel Tribeca. It was was the perfect location because it was nearby many of the events I attended. As a kick-off to my #NYFW content, here’s a solo photo shoot I created during my stay.

Take that trip, even if it’s solo one. You’ll learn you’re more savvy than you realized and people are willing to help you along your journey.
